Sketch Notes

Studying Human Centered Design and Engineering means thinking outside of the box and connecting social issues, humanity, and new ideas tied together with technology. Sketching notes were one of the creative methods I enjoyed and discovered while attending Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington. Once a week, the department invited experts to the Design Use Build (DUB) seminar. DUB brings together an interdisciplinary group of faculty, researchers, and industry experts to explore innovative ideas in design and technology. I enjoyed attending speaker sessions that inspired me from social awareness to technology that will impact our lives. At the end of each session, I sketched my thoughts and insights visually using paper and pencil.

This experience helped me to understand holistic views of their stories. It wasn't an easy process sketching all my interpretations and inspiration on one piece of paper because each session had so much richness of rigorous findings that I admired great researchers and designers who contributed to the community and society moving forward with their inspiring works. One of the biggest take away practicing sketch notes was expressing and summarizing in a visual way without fancy tools.

Below are my sketch notes, where I capture insights and emotions freely through pen and paper, blending creativity with thoughtful reflection.
